Plastic planters are popular around the world because they are inexpensive and they can be found in all kinds of different and tasteful designs. You can even find plastic planters that look very much like terra cotta planters, concrete planters and stone planters without the weight and price tag attached.
The biggest advantage of plastic planters is that they come in many shapes, sizes and colors and that they are durable. You can easily transplant plants because of the fact that roots don’t adhere to the sides. Plastic planters are lightweight, making them easy to move around your garden or house so you can use them as a window box, a hanging basket or a railing box. Another advantage is that they don’t absorb moisture from the surroundings. The advantage of plastic planters being non-porous is that plants don’t need the constant watering compared to porous planters like terra cotta planters. Most of the self watering planters have various methods of absorbing moisture from the reservoir at the bottom and so distributing the water evenly to the potting mixture.
The disadvantage of these plastic planters is that they can hold too much water resulting the plants to drown. You also have to be careful where you put your plastic planters (especially the dark ones). Don’t put them into the sun on hot days, because you will have a big chance in cooking your plants.
