Ceramic self watering planters can be used for all kind of different purposes. You can use them for example as a hanging basket, vases and window boxes with a wide range of colors, sizes and forms. One of the advantages of ceramic planters is that it provides a healthy enviroment for a wide variety of plants.
Another advantage is that glazed ceramic planters retain water, these kind of nonporous materials are great for plants that love moisture. As a result most ceramic planters are bought with saucers that are attached to the bottom of the planter to catch the water that flows out of the drainage hole(s).
You also can buy unglazed ceramic planters but they have the disadvantage that they can leak through the outside of the planter and that they can absorb water and fertilizer easily that makes the planter look dirty. Another disadvantage is that ceramic planters can be very heavy and break easily.
